You used fish to symbolize stupid everyday things, (also it rhymed with wish) in contrast to a shooting star, which is rare. So you say that one should wish upon a fish (because sometimes one just needs to leave things how they are) instead of trying to find order in chaos. And in that way, a person finds what they were looking for in the first place.
